Are private providers regulated?

Quality varies. NDIS-registered and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission–registered providers operate under formal standards. Unregistered providers can still be excellent but their accountability sits with you. Always check insurance, worker screening, references, and complaints process.

Can I claim private home care on tax or Medicare?

Most private home care is not Medicare-rebatable. Allied health may be partly claimable through private health insurance extras cover or under a GP chronic condition management plan. Speak to your accountant or health fund for specifics.

Can I switch from private to a Home Care Package later?
