What Community Nursing Covers

The Community Nursing registration group includes the following services. When referring, match the specific service type to the participant's plan goals and funded line items.

Registered Nurse (RN) Services

Health assessments, medication administration, wound care, continence assessments, diabetes management, respiratory care, clinical supervision of support workers. RNs are required for complex clinical tasks and care plan development.

Enrolled Nurse (EN) Services

Medication administration, wound dressing changes, vital signs monitoring, clinical observations. ENs work under RN supervision and are appropriate for routine clinical tasks that do not require RN-level assessment.

Health Management Plans

Development and review of participant health management plans, including medication management plans, diabetes action plans, epilepsy management plans, and wound care plans.

Clinical Training for Support Workers

RNs can train and assess support workers for specific clinical tasks (e.g., PEG feeding, catheter care) that would otherwise require nursing visits. This can reduce ongoing costs while maintaining safety.
