How we rank providers

Rankings in Australia are based on real outcomes between providers and families on our platform. They are recalculated daily and cannot be purchased or influenced by advertising.

  • How this list is built. Providers shown here list Physiotherapist among their professions, or offer physiotherapy and allied health. Generalist providers who only mention this service in passing are excluded, so the list reflects genuine, demonstrated capability.
  • Outcomes with families. We measure what happens after a family contacts a provider. Providers where families report positive outcomes rank higher. Multiple signals are weighted across a rolling window.
  • Service match. Providers are ranked by how closely their registered services and capabilities match what you are searching for.
  • Registration and compliance. NDIS registered and government-approved aged care providers are weighted for meeting quality and safeguards standards.
  • Local presence. Providers confirmed in Australia rank above those covering only the broader region.

What "Trusted" means. The Trusted badge is awarded to providers with a consistent record of positive outcomes with families on our platform. It is based on multiple behavioural signals and family feedback, and it cannot be purchased.

How to check a provider's credentials

Carevo lists the registration details a provider reports and links you to the official Australian registers so you can confirm them yourself. Here is what each listing shows and where to check it. A listing on Carevo is not an endorsement.

NDIS registration

Listings show whether a provider reports being NDIS registered. You can confirm a provider's current registration and approved support types yourself on the NDIS Commission's public provider register.

Aged care approval

Listings show aged care approval where it is recorded. You can check a provider's current approval and the services they deliver on the Australian Government's My Aged Care find a provider service.

ABN you can check

Most listings include the provider's Australian Business Number, shown on the profile. You can look it up on the Australian Business Register to confirm the business is registered and active.

Get Back to Your Best with Physiotherapy at Home in Australia

When pain, injury, or a chronic condition makes it difficult to move, it can feel like your world is shrinking. The thought of travelling to a clinic for physiotherapy can be overwhelming, especially when you’re already in pain or recovering from surgery. You need expert care that is convenient, comfortable, and built around your real-life environment.

That feeling is completely valid. Through Carevo, you can find professional, compassionate physiotherapy services delivered directly to your Australia home. 507 physiotherapists are listed on Carevo, drawn from the 7,072 providers across the allied health category. Qualified physiotherapists in the network work with you in your own space to reduce pain, improve mobility, and help you regain your confidence and independence.

Good Support Goes Beyond a List of Exercises

Are you worried about:

  • Worsening pain or mobility? The fear that you won’t be able to get back to the activities you love.
  • The hassle of clinic appointments? The stress and fatigue of travelling when you’re already feeling unwell.
  • Finding a reliable therapist? The concern of finding a professional who is not only an expert but also trustworthy and consistent.
  • Applying your exercises at home? The uncertainty of whether you’re performing your exercises correctly and safely in your own environment.

NDIS Support Items for Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy for NDIS participants is funded under the Therapeutic Supports registration group (0128). The primary support items are:

NDIS CodeDescriptionUnitNational Price Limit
01_721_0128_1_3Assessment, recommendation, therapy or training - PhysiotherapistHour$183.99
15_055_0128_1_3Assessment, recommendation, therapy or training - Physiotherapist (Improved Daily Living)Hour$183.99
01_799_0128_1_1Provider travel - non-labour costsEachQuote

Under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27, provider travel, non-face-to-face work, and NDIA-requested reports are claimed as separate line items rather than being built into the hourly session rate. Provider travel is charged at 50% of the service rate. Your provider will set this out in your service agreement.

The $183.99/hour figure is a single national price limit applying across standard areas (MMM 1-5), effective 1 July 2026 under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27. State-based price variation for therapy supports no longer applies. Higher limits apply in remote areas ($257.59/hour) and very remote areas ($275.99/hour). Self-managed participants can negotiate rates directly with providers.

Physiotherapy also appears under Improved Health and Wellbeing (Support Category 12) for exercise physiology-adjacent services and Improved Living Arrangements where functional capacity is relevant.

For NDIS participants who need a broad therapy assessment, see Functional Capacity Assessments.

Why Australia Residents Trust Physiotherapy Providers Through Carevo

Choosing a healthcare provider is a decision built on trust. Here’s how providers earn it.

The Clinic Comes to You

Physiotherapists are fully equipped with portable tools and devices to provide effective, hands-on treatment in the comfort of your home.

Qualified Professionals

Physiotherapists must be registered with AHPRA to practise in Australia, and you can verify any practitioner’s registration on the AHPRA public register. Ask each provider about their qualifications and their experience in home-based rehabilitation and aged care.

Coordinated Care

Physiotherapists work closely with your GP, surgeon, or other specialists so your physiotherapy plan is a core part of your overall care. They also work with occupational therapy and exercise physiology providers where a multidisciplinary approach suits your goals. See all allied health disciplines available through Carevo.

How to Access Home Physiotherapy in Australia

NDIS Pathway

  1. Confirm your budget: Physiotherapy is funded under Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living in most plans. Check your plan document or ask your support coordinator which budget category covers therapy.
  2. Self-managed and plan-managed participants: Contact providers through Carevo directly. You can work with any qualified physiotherapist, registered or unregistered with the NDIS.
  3. Agency-managed participants: You need an NDIS-registered provider. Filter by registration status when browsing Carevo.
  4. Initial assessment: Your first visit involves a full assessment of your condition, goals, and home environment. The physiotherapist will propose a treatment plan and session frequency.
  5. Ongoing sessions: Most clients start with weekly or fortnightly sessions, reducing frequency as goals are achieved. Your plan review will include a physiotherapy progress report.
  6. Plan review support: Providers through Carevo can supply functional reports and goal progress documentation to support your next NDIS plan review.

Support at Home Pathway

  1. Contact My Aged Care: Call 1800 200 422 or visit the My Aged Care website to apply for an aged care assessment. If you do not already receive aged care support, you will need an assessment (a comprehensive assessment for higher-needs support) to access Support at Home services.
  2. Speak to your provider: Physiotherapy is a clinical care service under Support at Home and is fully government funded with no out-of-pocket cost. Your provider includes it in your support plan.
  3. Choose a provider: Use Carevo to compare physiotherapists in Australia. Contact shortlisted providers to discuss availability, experience, and fees.
  4. Sign a service agreement: Your physiotherapist will provide a service agreement before sessions begin.
  5. Begin sessions: Home visits are typically available within one to three weeks.

Making Funding Simple

Providers through Carevo are experienced with the funding options for in-home physiotherapy.

  • Support at Home (formerly Home Care Packages): Physiotherapy is available under the Support at Home program to improve your strength, mobility, and independence.
  • NDIS Plans: Physiotherapy is funded under Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing.
  • Private Funding & Other Sources: Providers also support clients using Medicare plans (with a GP referral), DVA funding, and private health insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during the first home physiotherapy visit? Your physiotherapist will assess your physical abilities, pain levels, and home environment. They will listen to your goals and then work with you to build a personalised treatment plan with clear, achievable steps.

Is at-home physiotherapy as effective as going to a clinic? For many people, it’s even more effective. Treating you in your own environment allows your physio to tailor rehabilitation to your real-world challenges, which can lead to faster, more meaningful results.

How often will the physiotherapist visit? This depends entirely on your needs and goals. Your physiotherapist will recommend a schedule after your initial assessment, which could range from multiple times a week during an initial recovery period to fortnightly or monthly for ongoing maintenance.

Do I need a GP referral to see a home physiotherapist? For NDIS and private physiotherapy, no referral is needed. For Medicare-funded visits under a Chronic Disease Management plan, your GP must provide a referral and care plan. Some private health insurance funds also require a referral. Contact your insurer or plan manager to confirm.

Can a physiotherapist help if I have dementia or cognitive impairment? Yes. Physiotherapists through Carevo have experience working with people who have dementia and other cognitive conditions. Sessions are adapted to the person’s communication and comprehension needs. Carers and family members are often included to support consistency between visits.

What should I have ready for the first visit? Have any relevant medical reports, imaging results (X-rays, MRI), and your NDIS plan or Support at Home documentation available if applicable. Clear a space in the room where you spend most time so the physiotherapist can assess your movement. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated.
