Can you hire an independent worker?

It depends on how the NDIS plan is managed.

Self-managed: Yes; You agree the rate directly, within the funding rules and your budget.
Plan-managed: Yes; At or under the applicable price limits.
NDIA-managed: No; Registered providers only.

Registration rules and sources

Some supports require registration whatever the plan type, including specialist behaviour support and plan management. Check current SIL registration and transition requirements before arranging SIL.

A worker's professional registration, NDIS provider registration and a profile on Carevo are three different things. A Carevo listing establishes neither kind of registration.
