What a Domestic Assistant Does

Domestic assistants help NDIS participants and aged care clients keep their homes clean, organised, and comfortable. The work is practical and consistent: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, bathroom cleaning, laundry, ironing, changing bed linen, and general tidying. You might also do a grocery run or help a client set up a cleaning routine that works around their routines and mobility.

The people you support range from older Australians who find housework physically difficult to NDIS participants whose disability means they need ongoing help at home. For many of them, having a reliable, trustworthy domestic assistant is what allows them to stay in their own home rather than move into residential care.

Day to day, you work to a schedule set by the provider and the participant. You will often see the same people each week, which means you build a proper working relationship and get to know what matters to them.

How Carevo Works

Carevo is not a jobs board with fixed vacancies. It is a curated availability directory that connects care workers with NDIS and aged care providers across Australia.

Here is how it works. You register your availability, experience, and credentials with Carevo. Carevo presents your profile to providers in its network who are looking for domestic assistants near Australia. When a provider finds your profile and has a participant who needs support, they contact you directly. You review the opportunity and decide whether it suits you. You are in control of what you take on.

This means there is no single vacancy to apply for. Instead, you are putting yourself in front of multiple providers operating in and around Australia at once.

Who Registers With Carevo

Domestic assistants who register with Carevo are typically working casually or part-time and want a reliable way to stay visible to providers without cold-calling agencies. Some are building up a client base after completing a Certificate III. Others have years of experience in the sector and want more control over their schedule.

If you are honest about your availability and hold the right checks, providers in Australia will be able to see your profile and reach out when they have a match.

What Providers Are Looking For

Providers want domestic assistants who are dependable, respectful of the participant’s home, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Experience with NDIS or aged care settings helps, but many providers will consider candidates who are completing their Certificate III or have transferable experience in cleaning or hospitality.

Your certifications, including a current police check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, need to be up to date before providers can engage you.

Weekday$27 to $32 an hour
Saturday$40 to $48 an hour
Sunday$53 to $63 an hour
Public holiday$66 to $79 an hour

Casual employees receive a 25% loading on top of these rates (often quoted as roughly $34 to $40 an hour for ordinary casual hours).

How getting care work compares

Most care workers find work by searching a job board or signing on with an agency. Carevo works differently: you register your availability once, and providers in the network reach out to you. The work comes to you instead of you chasing it.
