What Community Nursing Looks Like Through Carevo
Nurses working in NDIS and aged care community settings in Australia provide clinical care in participants’ homes, supported accommodation, and community settings rather than in a hospital ward. The work is autonomous and varied, and it requires strong clinical judgement alongside the interpersonal skills to build trust with people who are managing significant health challenges at home.
Day to day, this includes conducting nursing assessments, developing and reviewing care plans, administering medications and injections, performing wound care and dressing changes, monitoring vital signs and disease indicators, and educating participants and their families about managing conditions at home. You coordinate with GPs, specialists, allied health professionals, and support workers to make sure the clinical picture is understood across the care team.

What Providers Expect
Providers connecting with nurses through Carevo expect current AHPRA registration with no conditions, a clear and current police check, and NDIS Worker Screening clearance. Clinical experience in community, aged care, or disability settings carries significant weight. Providers also want nurses who document accurately and communicate proactively about changes in a participant’s condition.
Pay rates for community nursing vary depending on the provider, the type of engagement (employee or contractor), and any applicable award conditions. Carevo does not set rates, and you should clarify remuneration directly with any provider who contacts you.

Nurses are paid under the Nurses Award, with rates rising from enrolled nurse to registered nurse classifications; aged-care nursing rates include the October 2025 work-value increase and many employers pay above award by enterprise agreement.

Does Carevo have nurse jobs I can apply for?
Carevo is not a traditional job board. Instead of applying for fixed listings, you register your availability and credentials once. Does it cost anything?
Creating a profile and seeing the requests near you is free. To contact a request you need the Support Worker Plan: $99 a month (ex GST) for up to 5 contacts a month, with a 7-day free trial. Carevo charges no commission and takes no cut of what you earn.
What do I need to start nurse work?
Most providers ask for a current Police Check and an NDIS Worker Screening Check (the screening check is legally required for risk-assessed roles with registered NDIS providers, and widely requested otherwise), plus any role-specific licences or qualifications. You can register your interest before every check is finalised and let providers know what is still in progress.
How soon will I see requests?
As soon as your profile is live: open requests near you that match your services and funding are on your dashboard immediately, and new ones are emailed to you when they arrive. How many there are depends on demand in your area. Providers hiring may also contact you, on their own timing.
Do I have to take every request?
No. You choose which requests to contact and which providers to talk to. Registering simply shows you the requests near you and makes you visible to providers seeking workers near you.
