How we rank providers
Punjabi rankings in Tasmania put recorded language services and community organisations first, followed by specific staff-language statements. Whether an enquiry can reach the provider and the Carevo activity rating break ties. These signals do not assess language proficiency or care quality.
These are organisation-level profile records, not a check of local staffing or language proficiency. Some older service and community classifications do not retain an original source URL; the profile link is provided for follow-up, not as a verified historical source. Evidence dates follow the selected record, not the latest unrelated profile refresh. Funding guidance was checked on 15 September 2026; no clinical or community review is claimed. NDIA interpreting arrangements. My Aged Care interpreting.
- How this list is built. Provider organisations are included when they have profile evidence of a language service, serve that language community, or state that their staff speak Punjabi. Undifferentiated profile lists of more than ten languages do not qualify unless stronger service or community evidence exists.
- Language specificity. A provider-entered list of one to three staff languages keeps its full ranking value, four to eight is damped, and nine to ten is damped further. More than ten does not qualify without recorded service or community evidence.
- Carevo enquiries. Providers who have paused requests from us are moved down among providers with the same language-evidence level. They stay visible and are marked as not receiving Carevo enquiries.
- State coverage. A provider must have an active directory listing in Tasmania; its head-office address alone does not put it on this state page.
What the enquiries status means
It answers one question: would a request sent through Carevo today actually reach them? It is not a rating, it is not about the provider's books, and it is not a statement about their capacity, their waiting list, or the quality of their care.
- Receiving
- At least one contact on their account is set up to receive new requests from us, and someone has signed in recently enough for us to say a person is there.
- Not receiving
- Every contact on the account has unsubscribed or paused, so we have no way to pass an enquiry on.
- No status shown
- We cannot tell either way, so we say nothing rather than label the provider. The account is set to receive enquiries, but nobody has signed in recently, or there are no contact details on file. It is not a negative mark, and most listings sit here.
A provider who is not receiving our enquiries may well be taking new clients directly. Providers set this themselves and can turn it back on at any time from their Carevo account or from any email we send them. Providers not receiving our enquiries are moved down within the same language-evidence level and never hidden. It is refreshed daily, so a provider who resumes, or signs in, reappears within a day.
What the Carevo activity rating means
The Strong activity rating describes how a provider behaves on Carevo, not the care they deliver.
- Where it starts
- Every provider starts at a baseline of 50.
- What moves it
- Enquiries from the last 90 days. The strongest positive is a care seeker naming that provider as the one who helped them. The clearest negative is connecting on an enquiry and never opening the contact details.
- How it is kept honest
- Recalculated daily from scratch, shown only above the baseline and only with at least two scored signals, and removed automatically when either stops being true. It cannot be purchased.
It is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or an assessment of care quality, and we do not screen providers for complaints. Complaints are handled by the NDIS Commission and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. See the full activity rating methodology.

How to check a provider's credentials
Carevo shows register-sourced status fields and links you to the official Australian registers so you can confirm the current entry yourself. Here is what each listing shows and where to check it. A listing on Carevo is not an endorsement.
NDIS registration
Listings show whether a provider reports being NDIS registered. You can confirm a provider's current registration and approved support types yourself on the NDIS Commission's public provider register.

Speakers Australia-wide
2,556 people in Tasmania use Punjabi at home, and 71% of them live in Greater Hobart (Australian Bureau of Statistics, Census of Population and Housing 2021). Demand for care in Punjabi runs well ahead of the number of providers who advertise it, which is why asking directly matters.
Registered NDIS providers can access NDIA-funded TIS National interpreting for eligible participant services. Unregistered providers pay their own interpreting costs. Ask My Aged Care about free interpreting for its services and confirm arrangements before booking.
Finding support in Punjabi
Use this directory to identify organisations with profile evidence of Punjabi services, community work or staff language ability. Carevo connects people with providers; it does not deliver care or employ the workers listed. Inclusion is not a recommendation or confirmation that a particular worker is available in your suburb.
Confirm the language match
Ask about spoken Punjabi and your preferred script for written information. Do not infer either from nationality.
Ask to speak with the person who would provide your support before agreeing to ongoing visits. Describe the tasks you need help with and check that you can understand each other. An organisation-wide language claim does not establish that its local team has someone available for your shift.
Make support fit your preferences
Discuss the choices that matter to you, such as meals, religious observance, personal care, gender preferences, communication aids and who may join conversations. These are individual preferences. Speaking the same language does not establish shared beliefs, customs or care preferences.
Ask how the provider records your choices and handles changes. If family members are involved, agree what information can be shared and who has permission to make arrangements. You can ask for an interpreter rather than relying on a relative for complex or private discussions.
Arrange an interpreter and check funding
Registered NDIS providers can access NDIA-funded TIS National interpreting for eligible participant services. Unregistered providers pay their own interpreting costs. Ask the provider to arrange interpreting and explain any applicable charges before the appointment. See the NDIA’s interpreting guidance.
For aged care enquiries, ask My Aged Care about language support. Confirm interpreting arrangements for the particular appointment. Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025; approved services and contributions depend on your assessment. Read the government’s Support at Home explanation.
Questions before booking
- Who will attend, and can that person communicate in Punjabi for the tasks I need?
- Is the service available at my address and at the times I need?
- What qualifications, screening and registration apply to the work?
- What are the rates, travel charges, cancellation rules and interpreter arrangements?
- How do I raise a concern or change workers if communication is not working?
Ask for answers and a service agreement in a format you understand. Check professional registration directly where the task requires it.
How to read this directory
Language evidence comes from provider profiles and recorded service or community classifications. It is not an independent language proficiency assessment. Dates describe the evidence record, not a promise of current staffing or local capacity. Confirm the language match and availability directly.
The population figures on this page use 2021 Census language-used-at-home data. They describe a population at that date, not current demand for care, English proficiency or the number of workers available. See the ABS 2021 Census language classification.
Maintenance and review
Carevo maintains this page. Funding sources and directory wording were checked on 15 September 2026 using the linked government material. This page has not been clinically reviewed or reviewed by a named Punjabi community adviser. Send corrections through Carevo’s contact page.
