When to use this code

Use this code when supporting a participant to get out into the community and take part in social or recreational activities. This can include attending events, visiting friends, going to clubs or classes, or any activity that builds social connections and community involvement. If the outing happens on a weekend or evening, check the related items for the matching time-based code.

Common billing scenarios

• A support worker takes a participant to a local sporting club for 3 hours on a weekday. The provider claims 3 units at the quoted rate for the direct support time.
• A participant attends a community art class with support worker assistance. The 2-hour session is billed under this code. Entry fees or class costs are not included in the support worker rate and may need separate funding.

Provider notes

• Capacity Building funding is time-limited and goal-oriented. Document how the support contributes to the participant’s plan goals, as this will be reviewed at plan reassessment. Unlike Core funding, Capacity Building budgets are usually not flexible across categories.
• When billing under this code, make sure the support delivered matches the description in the NDIS Support Catalogue. Mismatched codes are a common audit finding. Keep records of the date, time, duration, and nature of each support session.
