What the role involves

Support coordinators help NDIS participants understand their plans, find and connect with service providers, and build their own capacity to manage their supports over time. It is a coordination role, not a direct support role. You are working at the system level, untangling complexity and making sure the right pieces come together for each participant.

In Five Dock and surrounding areas, a support coordinator might spend a day responding to a participant whose support worker has resigned, helping another participant prepare documentation for a plan review, and talking through a service agreement with a provider on behalf of a third. NDIS progress reports are a core deliverable. You will write these regularly, evidencing how funding has been used and what outcomes the participant has achieved. Clear, factual writing matters here. Specialist support coordination is a separate, higher-complexity tier for participants with more significant needs or risks. If you have a background in mental health, disability, or complex case management, you may be well-suited to specialist roles.
