How we rank providers

Rankings in Australia are based on real outcomes between providers and families on our platform. They are recalculated daily and cannot be purchased or influenced by advertising.

  • How this list is built. Providers shown here offer support work and personal care.
  • Outcomes with families. We measure what happens after a family contacts a provider. Providers where families report positive outcomes rank higher. Multiple signals are weighted across a rolling window.
  • Service match. Providers are ranked by how closely their registered services and capabilities match what you are searching for.
  • Registration and compliance. NDIS registered and government-approved aged care providers are weighted for meeting quality and safeguards standards.
  • Local presence. Providers confirmed in Australia rank above those covering only the broader region.

What "Trusted" means. The Trusted badge is awarded to providers with a consistent record of positive outcomes with families on our platform. It is based on multiple behavioural signals and family feedback, and it cannot be purchased.

How much does disability home care cost in Australia?

Disability Home Care in Australia typically costs NDIS Assistance with Self-Care is capped at $70.23/hr (standard weekday) and $75.98/hr for high-intensity support, held at these levels under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27. Actual rates vary by provider, funding type, and the level of support required.

How to pay for disability home care

Funding options include NDIS Core Supports. Eligibility depends on your assessment and plan.

This page is about everyday support at home: the personal care and daily living help that lets someone with disability stay in their own place rather than move into a care setting. It is one part of the wider disability support picture. If you are looking to compare providers across all NDIS supports, start there. If your focus is hands-on help with the routine of daily life, you are in the right place.

Carevo is a connection platform. We match you with disability support providers in Australia and you choose who to work with. We do not employ support workers or deliver care ourselves.

What in-home support covers

Daily living support is the practical, recurring help that keeps a household running and a person safe and comfortable at home. Through providers in the Carevo network this usually includes:

  • Personal care such as showering, dressing, grooming and toileting, delivered the way you prefer.
  • Help with eating, mobility and transfers, including hoist transfers where a worker is trained for it.
  • Medication prompts and help keeping a weekly pill organiser in order.
  • Meal preparation built around your dietary needs and tastes, plus help with the grocery shop.
  • Light housework: cleaning, laundry and keeping the home tidy and hazard-free.
  • Overnight support, either active assistance through the night or a sleepover arrangement where a worker stays in case they are needed.

For people with high-intensity needs such as PEG feeding, ventilation or complex bowel care, providers can arrange workers with the relevant training. Ask each provider what their workers are qualified to do before you commit.

In-home disability support

Who it helps

In-home daily support suits people whose disability affects how they manage personal care or routine household tasks. That includes people living with physical disability and mobility limitations, neurological conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s or acquired brain injury, intellectual disability, autism, and sensory loss. The point is not the diagnosis but the day-to-day help required, so support is built around what you actually find hard rather than a label.

Many people combine this support with other services: community access, transport, therapy or respite for family carers. A support coordinator can help you fit these together.

How it is funded

Most people pay for in-home daily support through the NDIS, under Core Supports. The relevant line items sit under Assistance with Self-Care and Assistance with Daily Life. Under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 (effective 1 July 2026) the price cap for standard weekday Assistance with Self-Care is held at $70.23 per hour, rising to $75.98 per hour for high-intensity support. These caps carry over unchanged from 2025-26. Evenings, weekends and public holidays are capped higher. These are ceilings set by the NDIS, not fixed prices, and providers may charge less.

You can use your NDIS budget in one of three ways:

  • Self-managed: you choose any provider and handle the invoices yourself, which gives the most flexibility.
  • Plan-managed: a plan manager pays the invoices while you still pick your own providers.
  • Agency-managed: the NDIA pays NDIS-registered providers directly, with the least paperwork but a narrower choice.

If you are a veteran, similar support may be funded through DVA. Older Australians whose needs are age-related rather than disability-related are generally served by Support at Home, which replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025, rather than the NDIS.

How Carevo matches you

  1. Tell us about your situation through the short questionnaire below.
  2. We match you with providers in Australia who offer the support you need and have availability.
  3. You talk to them, compare how they work, and decide who to go with.
  4. The provider assesses your needs, agrees a plan and rates with you, and matches you with workers.

You stay in control throughout, and if a support worker is not the right fit you can ask the provider for a change. Choice and control are core to how the NDIS is meant to work.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this and the main disability support page?

This page is specifically about everyday support at home: personal care, daily living and household help. The broader disability support page covers the full range of NDIS supports and is the place to start if you want to compare providers across more than in-home help.

How quickly can support start?

Most providers in Australia can begin within one to two weeks of your enquiry, after an intake conversation and a needs assessment. Urgent situations, such as someone coming home from hospital, can often be arranged faster.

What qualifications do support workers have?

Workers commonly hold a Certificate III in Individual Support and a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, a National Police Check and first aid. High-intensity tasks call for extra training. Worker screening is handled by each provider, so ask them directly about their checks and qualifications.

Can I keep the same worker each time?

Consistency matters for personal care, so most providers aim to send the same small team rather than a rotating cast. Ask a provider how they handle continuity and what happens when your regular worker is away.

Tell us what you need and we will match you with disability support providers in Australia.
