How we rank providers

Rankings in Australia are based on real outcomes between providers and families on our platform. They are recalculated daily and cannot be purchased or influenced by advertising.

  • How this list is built. Providers shown here offer respite and social and community support.
  • Outcomes with families. We measure what happens after a family contacts a provider. Providers where families report positive outcomes rank higher. Multiple signals are weighted across a rolling window.
  • Service match. Providers are ranked by how closely their registered services and capabilities match what you are searching for.
  • Registration and compliance. NDIS registered and government-approved aged care providers are weighted for meeting quality and safeguards standards.
  • Local presence. Providers confirmed in Australia rank above those covering only the broader region.

What "Trusted" means. The Trusted badge is awarded to providers with a consistent record of positive outcomes with families on our platform. It is based on multiple behavioural signals and family feedback, and it cannot be purchased.

How much does NDIS daily living and community support cost in Australia?

NDIS Daily Living And Community Support in Australia typically costs Up to $70.23/hour weekday daytime (NDIS price cap held for 2026-27; group and high-intensity rates differ). Actual rates vary by provider, funding type, and the level of support required.

How to pay for NDIS daily living and community support

Funding options include NDIS Core Supports (Daily Living; Social. Eligibility depends on your assessment and plan.

Carevo connects you with NDIS providers in Australia across three closely related supports: assistance with daily living, short-term and respite care, and community participation. Tell us what you need and we match you with providers who can deliver it. Carevo is a connection platform, so the support is delivered by the provider you choose, not by us.

What these supports cover

Daily living support is hands-on help with everyday personal activities so you can live as independently as possible. This includes personal care such as showering, dressing and grooming, help preparing meals, light household tasks, and support managing daily routines. In the NDIS this is funded under Assistance with Daily Life.

Short-term and respite care gives both participants and their usual carers a break. It can be a few hours of in-home support, a day program, or a short stay in supported accommodation (Short Term Accommodation, which includes respite). Respite is useful when a family carer is unwell, travelling, or simply needs to rest.

Community participation is support to get out, take part, and build connections. That covers joining group activities, attending classes or interest groups, accessing local facilities, and one-on-one help to use public transport, run errands, or attend appointments. Over time the goal is usually to do more of this independently.

These three supports often overlap. A single participant might have a weekly personal care routine, regular respite for a family member, and a Saturday community group, all funded through the same NDIS plan.

Who these supports help

These supports suit NDIS participants of any age who need practical help at home, whose carers need regular breaks, or who want to be more active and connected in Australia. They work for people with physical disability, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, and complex or high-intensity needs. The right mix depends on your goals and your plan.

How the NDIS funds it

Most of this support sits in two parts of your NDIS plan.

Core Supports pays for the day-to-day help. Daily living assistance is funded under Assistance with Daily Life, and direct support to take part in the community is funded under Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation. Core budgets are flexible, so you can move funding between these categories as your needs change. Short-term accommodation and respite is also drawn from Core.

Capacity Building pays for support that builds your skills and independence, funded under Increased Social and Community Participation. This is where training to use transport confidently or to take part in activities with less support comes from.

Under the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 (effective 1 July 2026), the price cap for standard weekday daytime support is held at $70.23 per hour, unchanged from 2025-26, and the same cap applies to both assistance with self-care and accessing community, social and recreational activities. Evenings, weekends and public holidays are capped higher, and group-based community activities are charged at a lower rate because the worker’s time is shared. High-intensity personal care has its own higher cap. The amount of support you can use depends on the budget in your plan, not a fixed number of hours.

A note on worker screening: standards vary between providers. Ask each provider directly about NDIS Worker Screening Checks, qualifications and experience before you commit.

How to get matched

  1. Answer a few questions about the support you are looking for, your location, and your NDIS plan.
  2. We match you with providers in Australia who cover the supports you need.
  3. You compare providers, ask your own questions, and choose who to go with.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between community participation and community access?

Community participation is the broad term for engaging with your community: social events, recreation, classes and volunteering. Community access is the practical side of getting there and finding your way around, such as using public transport or navigating a shopping centre. Direct support to take part is funded under Core Supports (Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation), while training that builds the skills to participate more independently is funded under Capacity Building (Increased Social and Community Participation).

How is respite funded under the NDIS?

Respite is usually delivered as Short Term Accommodation (STA), which covers your support, accommodation, meals and activities for a short stay, and is funded from your Core Supports budget. In-home respite can also be arranged as regular daily living support. Your Support Coordinator can help you plan respite within your budget.

Is group community participation cheaper than one-on-one support?

Yes. Group activities are charged at a lower hourly rate than individual support because the worker’s time is shared between participants, so your funding goes further. Many people use a mix: individual sessions for specific goals, and group sessions for social activities in Australia.

Can I choose my own activities and providers?

Yes. Choice and control are core NDIS principles. You decide which activities you take part in and which provider you use. Carevo gives you options to compare so you can pick the right fit.

Can these supports help me find work?

Community participation builds skills employers value, such as communication, teamwork and confidence, and some programs include volunteer placements. If employment is a specific goal, look at disability employment services or SLES alongside these supports.
