Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly do providers respond to enquiries in Fletcher?
Across NSW on Carevo, providers accept enquiry details with a median of 5 minutes. 70% of enquiries have enquiry details accepted within 1 hour, and 87% within 24 hours (based on 7614 provider connections across NSW).
How do I find a support worker in Fletcher?
To find a support worker in Fletcher, compare NDIS registered providers listed on Carevo, then contact two or three to discuss your needs. Ask about their matching process, how quickly they can start, and whether they have workers who meet your specific preferences such as language, gender, or experience with your condition. Carevo lists 17 support worker providers for Fletcher so you can compare and contact them directly.
What is an NDIS support worker?
An NDIS support worker is a trained person who provides hands-on assistance to NDIS participants with daily activities, personal care, community access, and social participation. They are funded through the NDIS under Core Supports, specifically the Assistance with Daily Life and Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation categories. NDIS support workers must hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and are employed or contracted by NDIS registered providers.
How many support worker providers are there in Fletcher?
There are currently 17 support worker providers serving Fletcher listed on Carevo. These include NDIS registered providers, aged care approved providers, and independent support worker organisations.
How much do support workers cost in Fletcher?
Support worker rates in Fletcher typically range from $70-$156/hour depending on day/time (NDIS/Support at Home subsidised rates available). Rates depend on the time of day, day of the week, and complexity of support. Weekend and public holiday rates are higher. NDIS participants should check the current NDIS Price Guide for maximum allowable rates.
Can I choose my own support worker?
Yes. Most providers will involve you in the matching process and accommodate preferences for gender, language, experience, and personality. If you are self-managed under the NDIS, you have the widest choice of providers. Plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants can choose from NDIS registered providers.
What qualifications should a support worker have?
At minimum, a support worker should hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or equivalent state check) and First Aid and CPR certification. Many also hold a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent. For specialised roles, additional qualifications may be required, such as medication administration training, manual handling, or mental health first aid.
How quickly can I get a support worker in Fletcher?
Start times vary by provider and area, so ask each provider for its current wait time. For urgent needs, some providers offer faster placement or emergency support worker cover.
What if my support worker cancels or is unavailable?
Quality providers maintain backup pools of support workers. If your regular worker is sick or on leave, the provider should arrange a qualified replacement who has been briefed on your support plan. Ask about cancellation and backup policies when choosing a provider.
What is the difference between a support worker and a personal carer?
The terms are often used interchangeably. A support worker generally provides broader assistance including community access, social participation, and daily living support. A personal carer typically focuses on intimate personal care tasks like showering, dressing, and toileting. Many support workers provide both types of assistance.
Do I need an NDIS plan to get a support worker in Fletcher?
No. While NDIS funding is one way to pay for support workers, you can also access services through Home Care Packages, CHSP, DVA, or private payment. Contact providers directly to discuss your options.

How Much Do Support Workers Cost in Fletcher?
Support worker rates in Fletcher typically range from $70-$156/hour depending on day/time (NDIS/Support at Home subsidised rates available). The exact rate depends on the provider, time of day, day of the week, and the complexity of support required. Most providers charge more for evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
For NDIS participants, the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits set maximum hourly rates that registered providers can charge. Self-managed participants can negotiate rates directly with providers, including unregistered ones. Plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants must use NDIS registered providers who charge within the price limits.
Aged care package holders should check their package budget and any applicable co-contributions. Home Care Package funds can cover support worker costs, but the hourly rate will vary depending on the package level and the provider's fee schedule.
Private clients pay market rates, which are typically comparable to NDIS rates. Some providers offer reduced rates for regular, ongoing bookings.

How to Pay for Support Workers in Fletcher
There are several ways to fund support worker services in Fletcher. Most participants use government funding, though private payment is also available.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme): Support workers fall under NDIS Core Supports, specifically "Assistance with Daily Life" and "Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation." Your plan needs to include funding in these categories. Self-managed participants can choose any provider. Plan-managed participants can use registered or unregistered providers through their plan manager. NDIA-managed participants must use NDIS registered providers.
Home Care Packages (HCP): If you have a Level 1 to 4 Home Care Package, you can use your package budget to pay for support worker services. Your package coordinator will help arrange services and manage the budget. Higher package levels provide more funding for support hours.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP): CHSP provides entry-level support for older Australians. If you are eligible, you may receive subsidised support worker hours for basic assistance with daily living tasks. A referral through My Aged Care is required.
Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA): Veterans with a DVA Gold or White Card may be eligible for support worker services under DVA community nursing or attendant care programs.
Private payment: All providers accept private payment. This option gives you the most flexibility in choosing a provider and scheduling services, with no funding approval required. Some providers offer package deals or reduced rates for regular bookings.
What to Expect from Support Workers in Fletcher
Support workers provide hands-on assistance with daily activities, personal care, community access, and social participation. Services are tailored to your needs and goals.
The process typically starts with an initial consultation. The provider will ask about your support requirements, preferred schedule, any specific needs (such as language, gender preference, or experience with particular conditions), and your goals. This helps them match you with the right support worker.
Once matched, your support worker will usually do an introduction visit to get to know you, your routines, and your home environment. Start times vary by provider and area, so ask each provider for its current wait time.
Common support worker services include help with morning and evening routines, meal preparation, medication reminders, light household tasks, transport to appointments, community outings, and social activities. For higher needs, support workers can assist with complex personal care, mobility support, and behavioural support.
You should expect a consistent support worker where possible. Good providers prioritise continuity, meaning you work with the same person regularly rather than a rotation of strangers. If your regular worker is unavailable, the provider should arrange a qualified replacement who has been briefed on your needs.
If the match is not right, you can ask the provider to try someone else. A good provider will act on this quickly without any penalty.
How to check a provider's credentials
Carevo shows register-sourced status fields and links you to the official Australian registers so you can confirm the current entry yourself. Here is what each listing shows and where to check it. A listing on Carevo is not an endorsement.

New South Wales Regulations & Compliance
In New South Wales, NDIS providers may be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and registered providers comply with the NDIS Practice Standards. Registration is mandatory only for specified supports and circumstances, such as specialist disability accommodation, plan management, and supports involving regulated restrictive practices. Self-managed and plan-managed participants may generally choose registered or unregistered providers; NDIA-managed participants must use registered providers. Aged care services operate under the Aged Care Quality Standards enforced by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. Registered providers are audited against the NDIS Practice Standards, and workers in risk-assessed roles need NDIS worker screening through the NSW NDIS Worker Check.

Language support in Fletcher
Fletcher has a large Mandarin-speaking community (1.5% of residents), so finding NDIS support workers in a shared language matters here. These are the main languages spoken at home locally (ABS Census 2021). When you get matched, ask providers which of their staff speak your language and whether they can keep that worker as your regular. Interpreters are free through TIS National for NDIS appointments, and My Aged Care can arrange them for aged care assessments.
Speaker counts are persons using the language at home in this postcode. Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics, Census of Population and Housing 2021 (table G13). Carevo connects families with providers and does not deliver care itself.
The response time above is based on 7,614 requests across Australia. We do not yet have enough NDIS support workers requests in Fletcher to report how many providers respond to a typical request here. How we calculate our numbers
How we rank providers
Rankings in Fletcher use directory relevance and observable activity on Carevo: service match, distance, register-sourced status fields, whether an enquiry can reach the provider, and recent response and connection activity. Rankings are recalculated daily. They do not assess care quality or recommend a provider.
- How this list is built. Providers shown here are registered with the NDIS for Daily Personal Activities and Development of daily living and life skills, or offer support work. Generalist providers who only mention this service in passing are excluded, so the list reflects genuine, demonstrated capability.
- Activity on Carevo. We measure recent actions such as connecting on an enquiry, opening its contact details, responding, and an inquirer reporting whether a connection helped. These are platform activity signals, not an assessment of the support delivered.
- Service match. Providers are ranked by how closely their registered services and capabilities match what you are searching for.
- Register-sourced status. NDIS registration fields come from the NDIS Commission provider register. Aged care approval fields come from the My Aged Care register. These statuses are ranking inputs, not Carevo endorsements, and you should confirm the current register entry before choosing a provider.
- Carevo enquiries. Providers who have paused requests from us are moved down among providers with the same relevance. They stay visible and are marked as not receiving Carevo enquiries.
- Recent activity. Providers active on Carevo recently (a connection, a login, or a profile update) get a small boost, the same signal shown as "Active this week" on their card. It is deliberately small: stronger relevance and condition evidence outweigh a recent login.
- Local presence. Providers confirmed in Fletcher rank above those covering only the broader region.
What the enquiries status means
It answers one question: would a request sent through Carevo today actually reach them? It is not a rating, it is not about the provider's books, and it is not a statement about their capacity, their waiting list, or the quality of their care.
- Receiving
- At least one contact on their account is set up to receive new requests from us, and someone has signed in recently enough for us to say a person is there.
- Not receiving
- Every contact on the account has unsubscribed or paused, so we have no way to pass an enquiry on.
- No status shown
- We cannot tell either way, so we say nothing rather than label the provider. The account is set to receive enquiries, but nobody has signed in recently, or there are no contact details on file. It is not a negative mark, and most listings sit here.
A provider who is not receiving our enquiries may well be taking new clients directly. Providers set this themselves and can turn it back on at any time from their Carevo account or from any email we send them. Providers not receiving our enquiries are moved down the list and never hidden. It is refreshed daily, so a provider who resumes, or signs in, reappears within a day.
What the Carevo activity rating means
The Strong activity rating describes how a provider behaves on Carevo, not the care they deliver.
- Where it starts
- Every provider starts at a baseline of 50.
- What moves it
- Enquiries from the last 90 days. The strongest positive is a care seeker naming that provider as the one who helped them. The clearest negative is connecting on an enquiry and never opening the contact details.
- How it is kept honest
- Recalculated daily from scratch, shown only above the baseline and only with at least two scored signals, and removed automatically when either stops being true. It cannot be purchased.
It is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or an assessment of care quality, and we do not screen providers for complaints. Complaints are handled by the NDIS Commission and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. See the full activity rating methodology.
