When to use this code

Use this code for specialist positive behaviour support. A qualified behaviour support practitioner assesses the participant’s needs, develops a Behaviour Support Plan (BSP), and works with the support team to implement strategies. This is particularly relevant for participants with behaviours of concern that require a structured, evidence-based approach.

Common billing scenarios

  • A behaviour support practitioner conducts a 2-hour functional behaviour assessment with a participant. The provider claims 2 units at $1.00.
  • A practitioner develops a Behaviour Support Plan over 8 hours of combined assessment, consultation, and report writing. The total hours are claimed against this code, split across face-to-face and non-face-to-face time.

Provider notes

  • This is a Core support, which means participants can generally use their Core funding flexibly across different Core categories (unless their plan states otherwise). Check with the participant’s plan manager if you are unsure about flexibility.
  • Behaviour support practitioners must be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission if the participant has regulated restrictive practices in their plan. All Behaviour Support Plans involving restrictive practices must be lodged with the Commission.
