When to use this code
Use this code for community nursing care provided by a registered nurse or enrolled nurse. This covers clinical support tasks like wound care, medication management, catheter care, PEG feeding, and health monitoring. These services require clinical qualifications and are different from standard personal care support.
Common billing scenarios
- A registered nurse visits a participant for wound care, spending 1 hour on assessment and treatment. The provider claims 1 unit at $1.00.
- A nurse conducts a medication review and health check, taking 45 minutes. The provider rounds to the nearest billing increment as per the service agreement.
Provider notes
- This is a Core support, which means participants can generally use their Core funding flexibly across different Core categories (unless their plan states otherwise). Check with the participant’s plan manager if you are unsure about flexibility.
- Nursing services must be delivered by a registered nurse (RN) or enrolled nurse (EN) working within their scope of practice. Keep clinical records that meet AHPRA standards and ensure your professional registration is current.
