Registration is held by the provider organisation, not by the individual clinician. A speech pathology practice registers with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission under the Therapeutic Supports registration group, is audited against the NDIS Practice Standards, and appears on the NDIS Provider Finder; a sole trader can register the same way. Registration is only required when the participant’s plan is NDIA-managed. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can use unregistered speech pathologists, and many excellent clinicians are unregistered because the audit cost is high for a small practice.
