When to use this code

Use this code when renting rather than purchasing assistive technology equipment. Rental is appropriate when the participant needs the equipment temporarily, wants to trial it before committing to purchase, or when the item has a limited useful life. The rental arrangement must be cost-effective compared to outright purchase.

Common billing scenarios

• A participant purchases an item under this code at the listed price of the quoted rate. The provider submits a claim with the invoice and any supporting documentation.
• A provider supplies equipment and claims the cost directly. If the item exceeds the price limit, the provider must obtain approval for the additional amount before delivery.

Provider notes

• Capital supports are one-off or infrequent purchases rather than ongoing services. Make sure you have the required assessments and approvals before purchasing or delivering items. Capital funding cannot be moved to other budget categories.
• When billing under this code, make sure the support delivered matches the description in the NDIS Support Catalogue. Mismatched codes are a common audit finding. Keep records of the date, time, duration, and nature of each support session.
