How we rank providers

Rankings in Victoria are based on real outcomes between providers and families on our platform. They are recalculated daily and cannot be purchased or influenced by advertising.

  • How this list is built. Providers shown here list Dietician among their professions, or offer dietetics and allied health. Generalist providers who only mention this service in passing are excluded, so the list reflects genuine, demonstrated capability.
  • Outcomes with families. We measure what happens after a family contacts a provider. Providers where families report positive outcomes rank higher. Multiple signals are weighted across a rolling window.
  • Service match. Providers are ranked by how closely their registered services and capabilities match what you are searching for.
  • Registration and compliance. NDIS registered and government-approved aged care providers are weighted for meeting quality and safeguards standards.
  • Local presence. Providers confirmed in Victoria rank above those covering only the broader region.

What "Trusted" means. The Trusted badge is awarded to providers with a consistent record of positive outcomes with families on our platform. It is based on multiple behavioural signals and family feedback, and it cannot be purchased.

How we calculate provider numbers

How to check a provider's credentials

Carevo lists the registration details a provider reports and links you to the official Australian registers so you can confirm them yourself. Here is what each listing shows and where to check it. A listing on Carevo is not an endorsement.

NDIS registration

Listings show whether a provider reports being NDIS registered. You can confirm a provider's current registration and approved support types yourself on the NDIS Commission's public provider register.

Aged care approval

Listings show aged care approval where it is recorded. You can check a provider's current approval and the services they deliver on the Australian Government's My Aged Care find a provider service.

ABN you can check

Most listings include the provider's Australian Business Number, shown on the profile. You can look it up on the Australian Business Register to confirm the business is registered and active.

Complaints process

If you have a concern about any provider, you can lodge a complaint with the NDIS Commission or the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission at any time. We also accept complaints via our own channel.

What is in-home dietetics?

In-home dietetics is a clinical nutrition service delivered by an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) at a client’s home, covering malnutrition risk, diabetes, renal and cardiac diets, and texture-modified meals for swallowing difficulties. The NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 sets the national price limit for dietitian supports at $178.99 per hour. It suits people managing chronic disease, recovering from illness, or with disability-related dietary needs.

How to choose a provider for this service

The list at the top of this page is ranked using the criteria explained in the methodology above it. For dietetics specifically, four checks matter most.

Registration and credentials. Confirm the practitioner holds current Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status with Dietitians Australia. “Dietitian” is not an AHPRA-protected title, so APD accreditation is the credential to check, not the job title alone.

Pricing transparency. Ask for a written quote against the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 hourly limit of $178.99, and confirm how travel is billed separately.

Response time. Compare enquiry-to-contact speed against the response-time table further down this page before you book an initial assessment.

Coverage. Carevo lists 158 dieticians nationally, but availability is uneven between suburbs, so confirm a provider actually services your address before booking.

Which funding stream pays for dietetics, and who qualifies?

NDIS participants access dietetics through the Capacity Building - Improved Health and Wellbeing budget, under registration group 0128 (Therapeutic Supports), where nutrition management is reasonably and necessarily related to the participant’s disability (NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27). Support at Home, which replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025 (Department of Health and Aged Care, 2025), funds dietetics for people 65 and over, or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, most often for malnutrition risk or texture-modified diets. Medicare’s GP Chronic Condition Management Plan adds up to five allied health rebates a year, including dietetics, for people with an eligible chronic condition.

Where dietetics providers are available

Carevo lists 158 accredited practising dietitians nationally, part of a provider network covering 4,782 suburbs across Australia. Dietetics is often booked alongside speech pathology for people managing swallowing difficulties, or as part of a wider allied health plan for those managing several chronic conditions at once.

The provider rankings and figures on this page come from Carevo platform records, including provider registrations, measured response times and coverage, together with the cited official sources. Carevo is an Australian platform that connects families with vetted NDIS and aged care providers. Carevo does not deliver care itself.
